Why are you giving away all your profits? What’s in it for you?
I am donating all the profits created at a home party because of the reasons listed in the “About Lisa” section on the home page. I want to find a way to make a difference in this world and this is a way I can do it without spending the money in my checking account. Also, as an independent consultant with Arbonne®, and a distributor with Konad, Stouse, The Mountain, and Norwood, I make money in other ways besides charity-hosted parties.
What exactly will our non-profit make at a party?
I donate over 100% of the retail profits from the party.
For the Arbonne® products:
• 35% of the total of sale and regular priced items (PWP items, host gifts, $100 for $20, and other qualification products do not count towards the total)
• 15% of the total of sale or regular priced items purchased by a person that becomes a preferred client of Arbonne (PWP items, host gifts, $100 for $20, RSVP, other qualification products, and the $29 fee do not count towards the total)
• 0% of the total of sale or regularly priced items purchased by a person that becomes a consultant of Arbonne
In addition to 100% of my profits listed above for Arbonne, I will donate:
• $25 for each person that becomes a preferred client
• $100 for each person that becomes a consultant
• $35 donation for each party that is scheduled and held with a minimum of 4 people in attendance (including the host). This donation will occur after the new party is held.
For the Konad products:
• 50% of the Artistic Oasis LLC retail price on the Kits (the Artistic Oasis LLC retail price is discounted from the suggested retail price)
• 60% of the Artistic Oasis LLC retail price on any other Konad product (the Artistic Oasis LLC retail price is discounted from the suggested retail price)
Please note – taxes and shipping are NOT included in the total. The donation is based on the purchase price of products only.
Since we make less % for someone that becomes a Preferred Client and no % for someone that becomes a Consultant, why do you offer those possibilities at the party?
Because the charity makes a reduced profit or no profit from the items purchased by a preferred client or a consultant, I donate a dollar amount. At my first “trial” party, I did not offer the guests the option to save money and that bothered me because I knew I had a way to let people save money – but I also knew that we were trying to raise money for the charity…so I decided to still offer people the discount, and compensate the charity for the money they didn’t make. For someone that becomes a preferred client, the charity will still make 15% on their purchases PLUS a $25 cash donation from me. For a person that becomes a consultant, the charity will get a $100 cash donation from me.
How many people do we need for a party?
For a regular party a minimum of 4 people to no more than 8. If you want to schedule a party with more than 8 people, that’s great – but it becomes an event and will take longer than just a few hours on an evening. I am happy to do an “EVENT” with your nonprofit – it does take more planning time because I need to enlist people to help me to make sure that everyone has a great experience. It usually needs to be held on a weekend day because it can take many hours to hold.
What day / time can we have a party?
I am very flexible and can accommodate almost any day/time. I will do my best to keep my calendar on www.ArtisticOasis.com (coming soon) updated with dates and times that are not available. It is always best though, to just call me to schedule the date and time at 847-553-1608. Since I donate over 100% of the profits, I will be limiting the number of charity parties that I schedule each month.
What if no one buys anything?
While I don’t think that’s a real risk because the products are fantastic, it can happen. If that happens, then the attendees will have a great experience with a great product line. And the nonprofit will still be added to my list of preferred nonprofits for future cash and product donations.
What does the host need to provide?
The host of the party will need to provide some light refreshments and towels / washcloths and access to a sink or sinks. If the host can not provide the towels or washcloths, I can bring those as well. If the party is simply a nail art product, then the towels/washcloths and sinks are unnecessary.
What types of themes can we have for a party?
When you contact me to schedule a party, I will send a list of options of things that we can do. Themes include: mother/daughter skin care, spa, diet/wellness, makeup, nails, men’s skin, etc. I also have a checklist of “a la carte” items we can do at the party like:
• Salt scrub on the arms
• Foot treatments
• Face masks
• Nails
• Make up
• Diet drinks
Etc.
We can not demonstrate and try everything at a single party because there is just too much and it takes too many hours. However, the entire product line will be available for everyone and I have samples of most of the items. If there is something specific that your group wants to explore, please be sure to discuss it with me when scheduling the party.
How do we receive free products for raffles or cash donations once we are a preferred charity?
Simple - just ask. If you need some products for a raffle or basket or other fund raising reason, please let me know the date of the event and type of event. I will do my best to accommodate your request. Since this entire concept is new, I can not guarantee the amount of product / cash I will be able to donate or even if I will be able to accommodate every request. I can just tell you that I will do my best. Only preferred charities will be considered for donations of product or cash.
Please note - cash donations will not start until at least October- so that the company can build up a reserve of cash
We received our donation check today and it was written from Lisa Downs and not Artistic Oasis LLC, why?
It is a little known IRS fact that a company can only donate 10% of its profits to charity. Since I donate well over this minimum percent, I can not donate the money thru the company. The company passes the profits through to me – personally and I donate them to the charity from my personal checking account.
Do we need to be a 501 c(3) charity to participate?
Not necessarily. While it is an automatic for the 501 c(3), I will take non-501 c(3)s on a case by case basis. Please call me to discuss your specific situation.
Do the guests at the party need to be associated with the charity?
No. When the host calls to set up a date / time, he/she needs to tell me what charity they want the donation to go to. The guests can be anyone – whether associated to the charity or not. Even the host does not need to be a staff member or a volunteer – they just need to tell me the charity they want the donation to go to and they need to provide the 501 c(3) paperwork for me.
Are there any other benefits for our charity to host a party with you?
Yes, there are. Once you host a party you will be a preferred charity for a year. There are multiple levels of preferred charities depending on the retail sales volume of your charity group for the year.
